It all started...
So, my edcamp story started back in the fall of 2012. I really don't know what inspired me to click on that "register here" link that I found for the EdCampMSP event, but I can tell you everything changed at that point. Even though this was my first ever edcamp, I even proposed a session and led learners in discovering some cool apps on the ipad (link to session notes from that day).
From that point on, I was hooked (some say addicted) to the whole edCamp thing. What I find most powerful is the fact that teachers are not paid to come to edcamp - they are there because they want to be! They want to learn. They want to share. They want to improve their craft.
Edcamp an environment of open discussion on a wide variety of topics. There is a tendency to lean towards tech topics at edCamps, but it is not just about tech. It is talking and sharing about things that are successful in your classroom/school AND about things that might not be as successful. In this type of open environment - where you can "vote with your feet" - teachers feel more willing to share and it is this sharing that everyone learns from.
I have developed a wide PLN (Personal Learning Network) from attending these edCamps. Not only are these people my colleagues, but many of them are my friends and I am so thankful for meeting all of them!
So, where has attending edCamps taken me? What an excellent question...here is a list of the different edcamps that I have attended (by state/province):
**Note-Some of these places I have attended over multiple years - I think as of March 2017 I am up to about 32 that I have attended.
